The Eighth Day of Christmas - The Music of Vienna

It's New Years Day 2013! A new chapter, a new dawn, a new opportunity to forge ahead on the journey in the best and most hopeful way possible. May the next 365 days of your life be the greatest you have never experienced.

On January 1, at different times of the day, three events take center stage at our home here in Northeast Ohio. The first is the Tournament of Roses Parade - awesome floats, gorgeous flower arrangements, tremendous marching bands, and that corner turn that is always fascinating to watch. The second is witnessing my wife eat her black-eyed peas. It would not be New Years without those sacred beans. Lastly, the evening is set aside for Viennese music and the annual concert with the Vienna Philharmonic. There is something about the music of the Strauss family that simply captures the joy and expectation that the first day of the year invites.

So, on this Eighth Day of Christmas delightful music from Vienna to make the heart merry.

A prayer for New Year's Day:

Lord, we know that freedom will prevail because you are already victorious. Help us never lose hope, never stop celebrating your victory, and never stop walking alongside those who struggle to see this freedom come on earth as it is in heaven. Amen. (From Common Prayer)

Love One Another - Brian
