The Sunday Musical Offering - The Quartet from Giuseppe Verdi's "Rigoletto"
Went last night to see "Quartet" at the Cedar Lee Theater in Cleveland. What a delightful movie about four retired opera singers who find themselves together again at a retirement home for musicians. At the conclusion of the film, the four sing the Quartet from the last act of Verdi's masterpiece "Rigoletto". Was it coincidence of just plain luck that my classes at Tri-C this week also featured this music from the opera of 1851?
It does not matter for the ensemble is simply superb and can be listened to again and again and again. Here are Ramon Vargas, Elina Garanca, Anna Netrebko and Ludovic Tezier singing the quartet from the Third Act of Verdi's "Rigoletto."

PS - If you are anywhere near Columbus, Ohio this afternoon at 6:00 pm, head on over to the Music School for John Suntken's Junior Recital. It is sure to be an hour or so of cool and sophisticated jazz.
