New Year's Day. After the church service this morning, there is only one thing more I wish to do - enjoy the concert from Vienna on PBS. Here is a portion from last year's program with Cleveland's very own - Franz Welser-Most. My eighth gift to you in this season of Christmas.
Love One Another - Brian
The poetry for today is especially for New Year's Day.
Te Deum by Charles Reznikoff
Not because of victories
I sing,
having none,
but for common sunshine,
the breeze,
the largess of the spring.
Not for victory
but for the day’s work done
as well as I was able;
not for a seat upon the dais
but at the common table.
The Collect for New Year's Day, Book of Common Prayer
Eternal Father, you gave to your incarnate Son the holy name of Jesus to be the sign of our salvation: Plant in every heart, we pray, the love of him who is the Savior of the world, our Lord Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, in glory everlasting. Amen.
